My black and white pictures have a bluish tone?

I want my pictures to look like old black and white pictures. When i compare the tone of black and white photos that were taken on a digital camera to old black and white photos they look a bit bluish. Does this have to do with the fact that the pictures weren't taken on film?

I see it in both print and on the monitor.
Im using a Cannon powershot A590 IS not that great of a camera.

Some sensors on certain brands/models don't register the true black of B&W, if they don't you should see it on your monitor.
If you print your own photos it may be something in the print processing.

Added; You can limit or eliminate the blue tint in Photo Shop by going to Enhance>Adjust Color> Adjust Hue/Sat.
