Various Uses Of Conveyor Systems

 

In general, industry uses conveyor belt systems to transport various types of material from one station to another. A belting system is used in conveyor transport systems such as moving sidewalks, escalators and on numerous manufacturing assembly lines. Industrial material handling processes frequently utilize conveyor belt systems. Most manufacturing businesses require some type of material handling system to transport an unfinished product in the various stages of the manufacturing process. Conveyor systems are also often utilized in warehouses and packaging processes.

 

Most conveyor systems are constructed with a series of pulleys that have an attached belt that is pulled along by powerful three phase motors. The vast majority of material transport applications such as food processing, mining, and manufacturing utilize conveyor bets systems. Conveyor systems are very widely used in various mining and agricultural applications to move large quantities of coal, iron ore, and grain. Various types of conveyor systems are also utilized in the shipping industry in self unloading freight ships and in the trucking industry as well.

In order to transport cargo, a series of reciprocating planks are used. This differs from roller conveyor systems where a series of motor drive rollers are used to transport boxes and pallets. Certainly the type and size of conveyor belts vary to meet the particular application. The material used in the belt itself also varies depending on the application. Conveyor belts are offered for a wide array of applications and transportation. There are also some interesing pick to light systems that use lighted colors that can be quickly recognized to distinguish various types of items from each other.

 

Conveyor belts are typically utilized in commercial applications as opposed to private or home use. These belts are designed in such a way that they solve a specific industry purpose. As an illustration, belting systems used in the pharmaceutical industry must be free from impurities and they handle relatively light loads. While retail belting systems are used for transferring inventory. For heavy transport you need the construction conveyor belting system, which is designed for transporting and roofing heavy stones or plywood; and finally the forest conveyor belts are designed for carrying tree farms, logs and other related products.

 

The most popular conveyor belt system is the power transmission belt. This belt is designed and rated for use in power transmission applications like belting for power takeoffs, engine belts and industrial machinery. Power transmission belts are basically used to transfer heavy and bulky machines to the desired destination, and are made of a tough and strong material, that makes them able to carry heavy loads.
