White Pearls And White Mother Of Pearl Are Still As Chic As Ever

The main difference between those two types is in how the pearl is born: either by a natural effect or specially cultivated by people. The white pearls are most commonly produced within the pearls production industries. The countries leading in the production are Australia, Philippines, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, China, Sri Lanka.

White pearls are indeed a symbol of classical style. White might have some slight tones ranging from pink to creme which are also accepted. Any of those will be a wonderful acquisition. Surprisingly the pure white is not the most expensive type of pearls. For instance pink overtone will increase the price. To make sure to capture the slightest overtone study a pearl in such an angle that there no direct sun rays. Play with it a bit and you will see the difference in how it looks with and without direct sun.

There are many legends and myths connected with the pearls. People attribute special healing qualities to this gem. It is difficult to prove if it is right or wrong, but regardless of its special qualities, all pearls require special care. The pearls surface could be easily scratched, so avoid unnecessary harmful impacts. Keeping it clean and polishing it once in a while with a cloth will surely prolong the life of your pearls and keep the perfect colour.

Nacre is the inside substance of an oyster. In German it was called Perl Mutter, and as well in English it is often called mother of pearl. Nacre has been used for centuries for making jewelleries, mostly for the lower price than the pearls. Nacre is collected when looking for the pearls from the oysters that did not contain any pearls.

Purely white nacre is specially valued in China. Sometimes nacre is coloured to produce a special undertone. The French have introduced the names for the 5 types of the nacre and of course the white was given an unique name "La nacre franche argentee". It is mostly produced in Ceylon, Madagascar, China and Peru.

There many places where collecting and proceeding mother of pearl is an important industry. The major are the Red See, the Persian Gulf, Borneo, Ceylon, coasts of Japan and Philippines. As for the freshwater pearls, those are very rare nowadays and there are still few place where the can be still found - in some rivers of Northern Europe and North of Russia.

Producing the nacre as well as polishing the pearls are difficult and tedious tasks. It requires great skills and perfect taste. Several craftsmen will need to combine there efforts to produce an unique thing. Taken care of the nacre is not that difficult as long as you pay attention and wear it often. As the pearls, nacre needs to avoid scratches and it will also shine longer if kept closer to the skin.
