Merrell Hiking Socks

Merrell have been at the top of the outdoor shoe market for nearly 30 years. Originally born in the Green Mountains, Vermont, by a cowboy boot maker who came up with the idea of producing hiking boots that were as comfortable as the cowboy boots he made. In the following years Merrell hiking boots became the ultimate outdoor shoe. In making Merrell Socks new technologies were created and tested and each Merrell sock has been made using the pioneering E.W.E. Technology. This technology uses the highest quality of natural wool fibres and blends them with high performing synthetic fibres to create an exclusive yarn which is then used to produce Merrell socks with unrivalled qualities.

Merrell hiking socks contain the natural fibres of New Wool and Merino Wool. New Wool is a polished wool which is both soft against the skin and also durable. New Wool also provides exceptional thermal and moisture control to keep the feet comfortable. Merino Wool is used in Merrell socks as it is renowned for its superior softness when next to the skin.

Duraline and Coolmax are both innovative, man made yarns and they are used in Merrell trekking socks as they draw moisture from the foot and wick it away, this helps to keep the feet dry all day long, while the inclusion of Tactel in Merrell hiking socks gives them anti bacterial properties. Tactel is a nylon fibre which is ultra soft and lightweight, it lets the feet breathe while the anti bacterial properties make Merrell trekking socks perfect for those with sensitive feet.

Each Merrell sock contains Lycra to give them plenty of stretch so they stay close to the foot while still retaining their shape after washing. The comfort in a Merrell sock not only comes from the yarn used but also from the extra padding that is present under the forefoot and at the heel. This padding helps to combat foot fatigue and any aches and pains in the feet so you can carry on trekking for longer.

A well asked question is why there are mens Merrell socks and womens Merrell socks? Merrell socks reflect the vast knowledge of feet that Merrell possess. Rather than a one size fits all mentality as seen in other socks, mens Merrell socks and womens Merrell socks are designed differently to incorporate the variations in the shape of the feet.

Men's Merrell socks are fitted in strategic places so they stay in place all day long, this helps to prevent any friction which could lead to blisters. Mens merrell socks also contain additional Lycra just above the heel, around the cuff at the ankle and underneath the foot to stop them from slipping. Womens Merrell socks are knitted in a different way to the mens Merrell socks to give them a fit which is anatomically correct for a woman's foot. Narrower in the forefoot and heel womens Merrell socks have a lower volume design overall.
