The song is based around lossely Life in the ghettos of New York in the 1980 `s. Are you agree that to survive in a ghetto life was a matter of luck, genius or resistance pure human?
I have never visited a ghetto in my life, but I'm assuming that I would have to grow a thicker skin, and harden to endure hardship daily and petty crimes are the result of poverty, poor education, and anger integrated with the rest of society is part of the effects of frustration to be in that situation. That said, I do not think that life should be regarded as something to "survive." Not many of the scholarship programs for poor Americans, who are willing to study, but do not have the money to pay for their education, which is a way out of these circumstances and a ticket to build a decent life. Instead to get cynical and jaded, I encourage people to dream, plan, educate themselves, and execute plans in the best way possible. There are plenty of orphans who stayed one step away from the church door who grew up to become doctors, so that the life he leads is all about choices. If you have the work ethic and ambition to do so, you can do anything. People born in ghettos can still go out, this is America, not Darfur. Those who stay there, they are too lazy or too stoned to do anything about it. They live in a country called global superpower, while people in third world countries such as Slovakia, Romania, Kenya, India and came here to become doctors or engineers. We see the streets of a ghetto on television and I think we're looking for in a third world country. These are options. They do not grow bitter, grow better. I hope this answers your question.
