How to paint mahogany drum set flat black?
i wanted to custom paint my yamaha rydeen drum set flat black. however imkind of scared because the shell is covered in a sort of plastic black wrapping. im not sure if i should take it off and paint the mahogany or leave the plastic and put the paint on top of that. if anyone could tell me which would be better and how to go about painting it that would be great.

In My Honest Opinion I Would Not Paint It Since It Is Mahogany, How Ever If You Really Want I To Be Flat Black... You Will Need Some Fine Grit SandPaper (180 Grit) And Some Good Quilty Flat Black Paint (If You Know Anybody That Works At A Paint And Body Shop You Might Be Able To Talk Them Into Shooting The Pieces For You), Make Sure You Take Off Or Cover With Tape Any Peices You Do Not Want Painted.
Sand, Wipe Down, Tape (Or Remove), Paint, Let Dry, Add Second/Third Coats Of Paint, Remove Tape (Reassemble)... Enjoy Your "New" Drum Set.
