Losing weight?

Hello. I have 17 years and I've been losing weight (unintentionally), since about February. I think it's because I've been leaving the house much more and walk around. I also blame my girlfriend, cos girls r so stressful ... lol. Anyway ... my mother is worried I'm losing too much weight, but I prefer as I am now to how he was. I'm not thin, but I'm just a little thinner (my pants are loose ... go me.) However, I noticed that I lost more weight in the ribs that makes me look thinner than I am, but I have kept the weight on my hips, belly and chest. How I can lose fat from these areas, without wasting any more close to my ribs? I'm thinking of joining a gym.
