pop punk music..........is it sopose to be like skater music or something?

alot of pop punk bands wear skate clothes and spike thier all or have side bangs and all.and SOME wear those shorts with high tube socks.............is pop punk like skater music?

It could be man, but skaters vary across the board. You've got the "true punks", with the mohawks, pins, chains, and patches who stick to the origins, such as the Ramones, Clash, Misfits, Social Distortion, Dead Kennedys, etc. Then there are the more ska-punk kids who are all about Rancid, Operation Ivy, Goldfinger, Suicide Machines, Mustard Plug, etc. The pop-punks kind of came about heavy in the 90s and early 00s with the popularity of Green Day, Offspring, Sum 41, Blink 182, and even Avril Lavigne. Some people claim there is a genre called skate punk, which has bands like Pennywise. The clothing styles vary for those. In the late 00s, emo kind of flooded everything punk once was, so now I'm not even sure what's going on there, but my guess is that's where all the bangs and side parts come from. Skaters wore tight pants from day 1, though, so that's nothing new. In the 90s the fashion kind of seemed to be more of what you're describing, with the socks and shorts, spiked hair, and some t-shirt.

And still others come from punk rock roots, but they play it differently than the rest and kind of do their own thing. I'm talking the Bouncing Souls and more recently, The Gaslight Anthem, who say their punk is more in the "ethos", as in the attitude and ideation of the punk mindset. The music may not be entirely what those other punk kids consider punk, though.

And some skaters are real ghetto and listen to rap. So yeah, it's whatever really.
