What is a Lace Wig?

A lace wig - also known as lace front or full lace wig - is a light weight wig where the hairline is completely undetectable. Wigs purchased from Shoplacewigs.com are created using high quality Remy, cuticle-intact, human hair. The hair is attached by hand to the lace cap strand by strand using a wig ventilation technique that loops then knots the hair strand onto the lace. Lace wigs have grown in popularity recently due to celebrities like Beyonce, Tyra Banks, Mary J. Blige and Oprah. However, lace wigs are not new. Those in film, theatre and television are quite familiar with the beautiful transformation these wigs can provide for men and women.

French lace is recommended for someone who is new to wearing a lace wig. Swiss lace is finer than French - the grid pattern that the human hair is attached to is smaller = less detectable. The drawback to Swiss lace is that it tears easier in inexperienced hands.  Lace wig caps come in a variety of customizations:

• Full French lace no stretch
• Full Swiss lace no stretch (rarely recommended)
• French or Swiss lace with elastic stretch from ear to ear (ensures a good fit - especially for a stock wig)
