Does anyone else's baby seem to have their tongue sticking out a lot?

My 4 month old son always has his tongue slightly sticking out...I don't understand why. Even when he smiles, his tongue is right there...should I be concerned? Have you experienced this?
At his doctor appts. they say he is very healthy and looking good....I figured it was him experimenting with his tongue and being very aware that it is there. However, wasn't sure if anyone else was going through this at 4 months of age.

I wouldn't be concerned . . .unless he's also hitting the side of his hand against his chest.
