How long can a hamburger sitting leave before refridging before I go wrong?

My husband brought home a hamburger on Friday for me but before I ate it I fell asleep. I do not know how long he sat, but I put it in the fridge. Afraid I have to eat now. How time may be granted to the hamburger before it is damaged or should not be eaten?
