I have this dress...?

I have this dress. It is brown and short (too short to wear to a family oriented wedding without something under it). I have worn it out at night with a dark pair of jean and heels and it is super cute. However, I cant wear jeans to a wedding. What can I wear under it.
Leggings? What color... what shoes?
Tights? What color... what shoes?
Something else?

I know I can just find something else to wear but I really want to make this work in a fashionable way. My dress is like the one pictured in the link below. Not from ebay and the straps are thin and look like rope. The color is very close and the bottom is just like this one.

cute dress...but the only thing the does not go with black is brown. so do not wear black leggings. white leggings would be good with a pair of flats
