My back-leg on almost all of my dance jumps is bent?

I have been trying to find a way to lengthen my back leg but i can't. It is worst on my jete's or my switchsplits. I have great air time and height its just that stupid back leg. Can anyone please help?

I had this problem when I was 10. There are two parts to this remedy:

1. Strengthen your hip flexors: When executing leaps or switch leaps the quality of the jump is measured by how evenly your legs separate from one another, not if you can make the "split," That takes strength within your hip flexors. To strengthen, lay on your back and open to your stride. Practice pulling your legs together and "beating" them around one another in a pattern like: "cross cross open and cross cross open . . ."

2. Work on your overstretch: What I did was I'd get like a stack of magazines placed which ever leg on top of the stack and slid into the splits. The overstretch shouldn't be anything too drastic.

Bottom line: Great leaps come from strength.
