Does dressing goth require fishnet stockings?

I've got a goth costume in the works for a party I'm going to, and I was wondering if fishnet/highly textured stockings or hosiery are required to dress goth?
So far I have clunky boots, a plaid skirt, and a pin striped over-dress.
and 2 yards of black lace ribbon, and 12 yards of black satin ribbon.
i'm also going to be spiking my hair up real weird like with dark makeup.

I have been doing Goth and Punk for years and I agree with the other girl, wear sheer black stockings with Goth, they are so traditional, they are perfect for goth, especially with the seams. They set you apart, and out of the stereotype. She is right about the sexy part, there is nothing sexier than sheer stockings and a garter belt, and the red garter belt is a terrific idea. I usually wear a black one, but the red would be so much fun, I don't I am going to try it myself tonight!
