Bell bottom pants alter into straight leg pants. I can do some sewing. need to know how to do this alteration?

I have some old bell bottom pants that I want to alter and make them straight legged pants. They are cotton blend material, not denium. Do I use a pattern? Do I rip out the seams and start all over?

You have to rip out the seams up to around the knee, or where they start flaring out. Depending on the pant, you might only have to rip out the inseam. Make sure you don't make them too tight where you can't get out of them. Then basically resew that seam, Don't cut any material until you've tried them on and make sure that's the way you want them. Do one side at at time, then measure the completed side and duplicate it on the other leg to make sure they are identical.
