Ladies, do you look back now and laugh at yourself for wearing things like girdles, stockings, and slips ? It?

just seems like men really had you wrapped around their fingers back then!

To answer your question, I would say, 'no'. It was everyones' mother, who dictated that we must
wear all of that, to be properly dressed. I don't know what the purpose was for the girdles, since
we mostly were thin, when we were young. And we didn't need one to hold in a poochy tummy. Our grandmothers' generation, was a time of wearing a corset. It was believed to help in
your back support, rather than for slimming the waist. I remember my thin grandma wearing one
almost all of her life. Thank goodness, we weren't forced to wear those also.
It was sheer torture to wear a tight fitting girdle. They were rubberized with a panal for putting
pressure on the stomach to push it in. You had to roll them down to get them off. So you had to do
that, whenever 'nature' called. I didn't like wearing a slip either, but at least, they were comfortable.
It was additional shoulder straps I didn't like putting up with. They were always slipping down over
my narrow shoulders. Stockings were always worn and mainly still are, with the panty hose style.
Now there is a trend to not wear any hosiery, and I think, it's about time.
