What are some popular places in Alaska for small plane bird strikes?

I am in the process of writing a book about a Cessna going down into a lake and the kid in it surviving. I am looking for specific places like say near "x" lake. Also does anyone know the lake that the crew crashed into in the movie "The Edge" ?

I my area (Keani / Soldotna), the most float plane activity is at the Kenai Airport (designator: ENA) which has a float-plane approach (lone narrow artificial body of water with docks alongside) parallel the paved runway. And Mackey Lake in Soldotna has a lot of privately operated float plane and some charter services (Talon Air is one). The charter firms at each take people to remote fly-in fishing a dn hunting spots, mostly on the far side of Cook Inlet that have no road access.

The last fatal accident in our area with a water landing was on Longmere Lake just outside Soldotna to the east. A float plane landed badly, apparently knocked out the passangers who then sunk with the plane.

The busiest float plane lake in the world is Lake Hood at the Ancorage International Airport. There are hundreds of airplanes stored/docked there and many take-offs and landings each hour all summer and fall.

Are you planning on a wheeled plane going down? Common Cessnas for land use include 172 (most common), 182, and the older 170 and 180. Any of those could be equipped as a float plane. They are all 4 seaters (pilot+3). Charter operators usually use bigger planes such as a Cessna 206/207 which holds 5, 6, or 7 people and can be on floats. The DeHallivand Beaver is a common, very capable, but expensive float plane, about $1,000,000 for one in good shape, 6-8 people.
